I'd like to introduce you to our lovely sectional sofa by Room and Board. It is our most loved piece of furniture, and the most expensive. Although, that is to be expected I think! We bought it off Craigslist probably two months ago. I saw it and fell in love, but I knew Danny wouldn't fall in love with the price. I talked him into driving the 45 minutes to San Francisco to "just take a look". I was nervous driving up there, making sure he was okay with the long drive even if we came home empty handed. He was. We created code words in the car to hint to the other person that we didn't like the sofa (just in case we wanted to split!) Do you ever do the code word thing? Whether you are buying something off Craigslist or visiting in laws maybe?
And now, we are loving every minute of kicking back on this thing. We had a small apartment sofa before (which was way cute by the way) but we both could never relax on it together. If one person (me) wanted to lay down, the other person (Danny) had to lay on the floor! Not ideal for movie watching. We were a bit nervous about squishing a sectional into our small one bedroom apartment, but it has proven to be a much better and much more practical piece of furniture to suit our needs.
Sectionals can be so great in a smaller place! Check out what Apartment Therapy had to say about fitting sectional sofas into small spaces. I would say I have to agree with the author. One thing that we will probably do differently though, is to add a smallerish accent chair. I am thinking something fairly cheap since we splurged on the sofa. This rocking chair might be perfect! It might just show up on our doorstep in five to seven business days. Maybe.
